FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE INFORMATION

The Martha Graham School provides scholarships for merit, access (need-based) and work-study. Scholarships are distributed at the beginning of the semester. Students must audition in the summer and again in the winter to maintain their scholarship. Scholarships range from partial to full and may be given for one or more semesters. ALL scholarship recipients are required to pay fees and the required deposit.

All students interested in receiving a scholarship and/or work study position will be required to submit a Scholarship Application Profile.  This profile helps us communicate information with our donors and continue the work of attracting more donors to support our students. Please complete the profile by the deadline to be considered for scholarships and work study, even if you have already been notified. All students are eligible for all financial assistance opportunities, including international students.

Please review ALL details and follow ALL instructions to be eligible. The Scholarship Applicant Profile is due August 1st and you will be notified by August 15th. Please make sure that all fees and the deposit are paid by the deadline.

Graham 2 Scholarship is a merit scholarship for students who have auditioned for and been accepted to the Graham 2 Company. Students receive a partial tuition scholarship for each semester they are members of Graham 2.

Graham 2 Understudy Scholarships are merit scholarships for students who have auditioned for and been accepted as understudies for the Graham 2 Company. Students receive a partial tuition scholarship for each semester they are Graham 2 understudies.

Program Director Scholarships are merit- and access (need-based scholarships) awarded to students at the discretion of each Program Director, but not necessarily on an annual basis. These scholarships are primarily given through the Alumni Scholarship program for tuition support during the Winter and Summer Intensives.

Work Study positions are on-campus at the Martha Graham School wherein students work  8-10 hours per week in exchange for a fixed reduction off their tuition. Students have the benefit of learning the different tasks associated with running a non-profit organization, and positions are designed according to the needs of the School (covering front desk hours, answering telephone, helping with schedules, running errands and other useful tasks) as determined by the School Assistant and/or School Director. School Assistants are selected by an application process.

Work Study Rates

  • The Fall/Spring Work is a non-paid position.
  • Students will be able to use the earned work time towards Fall/Spring Tuition at the rate of $750 – $1,500 a semester and a weekly schedule of 10-12 hours a week.
  • Work Study hours are not transferable and will ONLY be applied to the semester the hours were worked. You MUST clock in/out via MindBody to receive credit for worked hours. All tuition discounts will be applied at the start of the semester, after fees and deposits have been paid.  If a student does not fulfill the hours required for the position, the student will owe the outstanding tuition.
