INTENSIVE GRAHAM TEACHER WORKSHOP – OFFERED IN-PERSON ONLY!
The Martha Graham School offers an in-person Intensive Teacher Workshop for instructors with or without Graham teaching experience, who wish to deepen their understanding of the Martha Graham Technique.
Created and taught by Virginie Mécène, the workshop will provide detailed instruction in Martha Graham Technique. Using a creative approach and drawing on imagery, personal experience, Graham philosophy, and tailoring suggestions for various age groups and levels, the course material will provide a solid foundation in Graham pedagogy and lay the groundwork for further development with increasing complexity.
Tuition for 1-Week Graham Teacher Workshop is $600 + $35 registration fee.

Workshop Content
The instructor will review and expand upon students’ understanding of floorwork, standing, and traveling exercises, while highlighting connections between the combinations. Topics for study include:

Warming up the back
Use of breath for movement
Torso mobility/expression
Contraction and Release
Use of arms from the back
Spiral
Fall
STANDING EXERCISES
Legwork
Contract and release to propel movement
Shift-of-Weight
Floor to standing progression

Certificates are not given for this workshop, however a letter of attendance can be given upon request at the end of the workshop.
